We need a few hardcore AI/ML researcher-engineers who build great AI systems, data systems, and systems in general - and who are driven by real curiosity. You'll work in the 🤫 R&D Lab for Humans & Machines (with our launch university partners) on the hard problems: the Personal Knowledge Model and portable Personal World Model, on-device and edge intelligence, retrieval and memory, evaluation, and the consent-native architecture that makes a personal agent trustworthy. Research that ships - legible, reproducible, and aligned to a real product the world owns.

What you'll do

  • ▸Push the frontier on personal AI: knowledge/world models, memory, retrieval, evals
  • ▸Build the data and systems substrate - efficient, sovereign, on-device and edge-first
  • ▸Turn research into shipped capability with real latency, accuracy, and relevance budgets
  • ▸Keep the human in control: consent-native design, interpretability, and honest evaluation
  • ▸Publish and teach in the open where we can; collaborate with our university labs

Minimum requirements

  • ▸Deep ability in ML/AI and in systems - and the curiosity to cross between them
  • ▸You've built real AI or data systems, not just notebooks - research that runs
  • ▸Rigor about evaluation and honesty about what works (and what doesn't)
  • ▸Want to be in person at an R&D Lab - Stony Brook, Purdue, or IIT (Kharagpur/Mumbai/Chennai)
  • ▸Care about the mission: intelligence people own and control
