Not open yet: Research program

This work starts when that stage arrives, so there is no application to submit today and we will not pretend otherwise. What is written below is what the role is for and what would make somebody right for it, published early on purpose so you can decide whether it is worth watching.

The work

What this person actually does

Study trust calibration, consent comprehension, shared-device use and collaboration between people. Conduct consented interviews and usability studies with appropriate ethics review. Translate observations into product changes and evaluate whether the changes improve understanding and agency.

The milestone

What it looks like when it is working

In your first 90 days, deliver a study of one household or professional workflow and test a design that addresses an observed failure.

Evidence

What would show us you can do it

Bring HCI, human factors, cognitive science, social computing or related research experience. Value careful observation and methodological rigor over assumptions about how users should behave.

Evidence, not credentials. We are describing work you can point at, in whatever form it exists.

The exercise

How we would look at it together

Design a study that distinguishes appropriate trust in an agent from increasing willingness to accept its suggestions.
