AI Summit at Stanford

Thank you,
Ilya A. Strebulaev

We built this to say thank you. Everything on it is public and cited, and none of it came from anywhere you did not put it yourself.

His argument is that the way venture capitalists decide under deep uncertainty is a discipline anyone can learn, not a trick reserved for investors.

Ilya A. Strebulaev is the David S. Lobel Professor of Private Equity and Professor of Finance at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he has taught since 2004, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research since 2010. He founded and directs the Stanford GSB Venture Capital Initiative, which studies how venture capital and private equity actually work rather than how they are described.

His academic work has taken the First Paper Prize of the Brattle Award for the best corporate finance paper in the Journal of Finance in 2007, and the Fama DFA Prize for the best asset pricing paper in the Journal of Financial Economics in 2011. He is a co-author, with Alex Dang, of The Venture Mindset, published by Portfolio in 2024. His teaching took the Stanford GSB MBA Distinguished Teaching Award in 2009.

Speaking at the AI Summit at Stanford on The Venture Mindset: Insights on Startups and VC.

This page exists to say thank you for showing up and doing the work in public. Every claim on it is cited below and checkable. The fuller picture our research put together is not published here, and will not be. It is yours the moment you claim it.

Your 🤫 ID in Apple Wallet

Both cards, your spaceID and your 🤫 ID, are designed to live in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet so a check-in is a tap rather than a form.

Not yet issuable. A pass has to be signed with an Apple Pass Type ID certificate, and we do not hold one yet. The pass itself is built and waiting; we would rather say so than show you a button that quietly fails.

Not happy this exists?

Ask us to take this down and it goes, the same day, with nothing kept. Tell us and it is gone.
